What each level generates

Grade 3 read a record β€” the exact skill behind each difficulty setting, straight from the generator.

  1. Level 1Find one value
  2. Level 2Most and least chosen
  3. Level 3Count the even ones

Grade levels follow the progression common to most English-language curricula β€” not one specific national curriculum. Every level shows exactly what it generates, so you can check the fit with your own program. See the full scope & sequence β†’

More Grade 3 data handling skills

Each one generates a different kind of question, with its own three levels and answer key.

Frequently asked questions

β–ΈWhat is a two-step data question?

One where the answer is not written in the record. "How many chose neither apples nor pears?" needs the whole record totalled first and the two named categories then taken off β€” two moves, in order.

β–ΈWhat does Grade 3 data handling cover?

Solving one- and two-step questions using information that has been collected and presented, and comparing categories within it. These sheets do that with written records of four categories.

β–ΈHow big do the numbers get?

Counts run to about forty-five per category at this grade, so a total can reach the low hundreds. That keeps the addition genuinely worth doing without turning a data sheet into a column-addition sheet.

β–ΈMy child can read the record but gets the two-step questions wrong. What should I do?

Ask them to say what they are going to do before they write anything. Almost every wrong answer at this level is a correct calculation of the wrong thing, and saying the plan out loud catches it.

β–ΈCan I get a different sheet at the same level?

Yes β€” press Shuffle. Every sheet is generated fresh, so a child can practise the same skill many times without ever repeating the same questions.
