Grade 3 · 2 pages · A4What each level generates
Grade 3 equivalent fractions — the exact skill behind each difficulty setting, straight from the generator.
- Level 1Missing numerator
- Level 2Simplify to lowest terms
- Level 3Both directions
Grade levels follow the progression common to most English-language curricula — not one specific national curriculum. Every level shows exactly what it generates, so you can check the fit with your own program. See the full scope & sequence →

Frequently asked questions
▸What fractions should a Grade 3 student know?
Unit fractions (1/2, 1/3, 1/4, up to about 1/8, plus tenths), finding unit and simple non-unit fractions of small quantities, and equivalences like 2/4 = 1/2. Comparing is limited to pairs that share a denominator or share a numerator, and to judging a fraction against one half. The sheets here keep to that range, except that the equivalence sheets also use larger denominators such as 12, 16, 24 and 30.
▸How does the Equivalent Fractions sheet work?
Each problem shows a fraction pair with one number missing — for example 1/2 = ?/8 — and the pairs are generated so the missing value is always a whole number. Level 1 scales up, so students find the blank by spotting what the known parts were multiplied by. Level 2 runs the pair the other way, from 8/12 back down to 2/3, and level 3 mixes both directions.
▸Do the Grade 3 sheets ever compare fractions with different denominators?
Only in two easy cases. Comparing fractions with unrelated denominators usually means finding a common denominator first, which is Grade 4 work and has its own sheets there. Grade 3 here compares and orders same-denominator sets, same-numerator sets (3/5 against 3/8, or unit fractions), and single fractions against one half, none of which needs a common denominator.
▸Does the worksheet come with an answer key?
Yes — tick the answer key box and a numbered key prints on a separate final page, so you can keep it aside while your student works.
▸Can I get new problems without changing my settings?
Press Shuffle. You get a fresh set at the same grade, skill, level and question count, and each shuffled sheet gets its own link you can bookmark or share.
▸What age is Grade 3 fraction work for?
Typically 8–9 year olds, but the three levels inside each skill mean you can hand the same page to a younger child ready to stretch or an older one who needs review.
