Frequently asked questions

▸Is cursive taught in Grade 3?

In many curricula, yes — Grade 3 is a common starting point for cursive, though timing varies and some programs wait until Grade 4. Print fluency comes first: cursive is layered on once letters are formed reliably. Set the Handwriting style menu to Cursive when your program introduces it, and keep print practice going alongside.

▸How do I switch the worksheet between print and cursive?

Open the Handwriting style menu and choose Standard print, Clear print, Rounded, Casual hand, Handwriting or Cursive. The traced models and the copying lines both switch to the letterforms you pick, so the sheet always shows the exact style you want your child to practise.

▸How long should Grade 3 handwriting practice be?

Five to ten minutes daily is ideal. Keep sheets to 3–5 longer sentences with the count stepper — short, regular sessions build fluency far better than an occasional full page, which just tires the hand and rehearses sloppy letters on the last lines.

▸My child's writing got messier since starting cursive — is that a problem?

A temporary dip is completely normal when a new motor skill is layered on. Drop the support level back to Trace every row for a week so the joins are guided, then return to Trace then copy. Legibility recovers as the cursive movements become automatic.

▸Can I reuse the exact same sentences later?

Yes. The page link stores your precise worksheet, so bookmarking or sharing it reproduces the identical sentences, style, and layout — handy for printing the same practice a month later and comparing the writing side by side.
