Frequently asked questions
▸What word problems are taught in Grade 3?
Multiplication and division stories (equal groups, arrays and sharing; shares stay within 100, products reach 225) plus multi-step stories, from join-then-join up to stories that mix operations. Equal Groups Stories, Sharing & Grouping Stories, Two-Step Stories and Two-Step Group Stories cover that whole span.
▸How many problems make a good Grade 3 session?
8–12. Story problems take longer than bare number facts, so a focused set beats a long one. Size the sheet with the question-count stepper.
▸My student knows their tables but fails word problems — why?
The missing skill is usually translating the story into an operation, not arithmetic. Practise saying what is happening ("equal groups of 6") before computing; the working space on each sheet is there for exactly that step.
▸Can I give the whole class the same sheet?
Yes — share the link and every copy has identical problems, so marking is fast and results are comparable. Press Shuffle first if you want a different version for a second group.
▸Does the answer key show the working?
The key lists final answers, numbered to match the problems, and prints on its own separate page — easy to withhold while students work.
