What each level generates

Grade 6 find the mean β€” the exact skill behind each difficulty setting, straight from the generator.

  1. Level 1Four values
  2. Level 2Five values
  3. Level 3Six larger values

Grade levels follow the progression common to most English-language curricula β€” not one specific national curriculum. Every level shows exactly what it generates, so you can check the fit with your own program. See the full scope & sequence β†’

More Grade 6 data handling skills

Each one generates a different kind of question, with its own three levels and answer key.

Frequently asked questions

β–ΈWhat is the difference between the mean, the median and the mode?

The mean shares the total out evenly. The median is the middle value once the set is in order. The mode is the value that appears most often. They answer the same question β€” what is typical β€” in three different ways, and they often disagree.

β–ΈDo the answers ever come out as decimals?

No. The sets are built so the mean divides exactly and the median lands on a value. That keeps the focus on what the statistic means rather than on decimal division.

β–ΈHow do you find the median of an even-sized set?

It sits halfway between the two middle values. The third level of the median sub-skill uses even-sized sets built so those two middle values are equal, so the median is still a whole number the child can name.

β–ΈWhy is there no range worksheet here?

Because the site already has one. The Subtraction topic's How Many More sub-skill asks for the difference between the largest and the smallest amount at grades 1 to 4. Duplicating it as a grade 6 skill would be misleading.

β–ΈHow many questions make a good session?

Ten. Each one needs the set ordered or totalled, so ten questions is a real piece of work at this grade.
