What each level generates

Grade 6 integer word problems — the exact skill behind each difficulty setting, straight from the generator.

  1. Level 1One rise or fall
  2. Level 2Difference between two levels
  3. Level 3A change repeated

Grade levels follow the progression common to most English-language curricula — not one specific national curriculum. Every level shows exactly what it generates, so you can check the fit with your own program. See the full scope & sequence →

Frequently asked questions

▸What are integers in Grade 6?

Integers are the whole numbers together with their negatives and zero: ..., -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, ... Grade 6 uses them to describe real situations like temperature, elevation, and money owed, and to place and compare values on a number line.

▸How do I explain adding a negative number?

Model it as a move left on the number line. Starting at 2 and adding -5 means stepping five to the left, landing on -3. Rewriting subtraction as adding the opposite keeps everything as one consistent motion along the line.

▸Why do my child's answers flip sign?

Almost always it is the '-4 + -3 = 7' error — misusing the multiplication rule for addition. Same-sign addition keeps the sign, so -4 + -3 = -7. A number-line sketch on each problem prevents it.

▸Can I print an answer key to check the work?

Yes. Tick the answer key box and the numbered answers print on a separate final page, so you can hand back the sheet, work through misses together, and keep the key aside.

▸Are these worksheets really free?

Completely free, with no account and no sign-up. Generate as many integer sheets as you like, print straight from the PDF, and bookmark the link to reopen the identical worksheet later.
