What each level generates

Grade 6 rates & speed — the exact skill behind each difficulty setting, straight from the generator.

  1. Level 1Find the rate
  2. Level 2Use the rate
  3. Level 3Rate after a percent change

Grade levels follow the progression common to most English-language curricula — not one specific national curriculum. Every level shows exactly what it generates, so you can check the fit with your own program. See the full scope & sequence →

Frequently asked questions

▸What word problems should a Grade 6 student handle?

Percent-of-an-amount, unit rates, ratio sharing, and fractions of a quantity — the heart of Grade 6 proportional reasoning. The five sub-skills here (Percent Stories, Ratio & Sharing, Fractions of Amounts, Rates & Speed, Multi-Step Problems) cover that span.

▸How are these different from the Grade 5 sheets?

Grade 5 word problems are mostly whole-number arithmetic dressed as a story, with some decimals: prices in dollars and cents, and lengths, masses and capacities written as metric decimals; Grade 6 shifts mostly to proportional reasoning (percents, rates, ratios, and fractions of an amount), though Multi-Step Problems still include whole-number stories. In most problems the job is no longer just to add or multiply, but to decide what fraction or percent of the whole the question is asking for.

▸How many problems make a good Grade 6 session?

6–10. Each one involves reading, deciding the steps (usually a percent, fraction, ratio or rate) and computing, so a short accurate set teaches more than a long rushed one. Size it with the question-count stepper, which goes up to 12.

▸Do these worksheets cover ratios and percentages?

Yes — proportional reasoning is the whole point at Grade 6. Percent-of, unit rate, ratio share, fraction-of, and multi-step problems are what the sub-skills generate; for pure drills, the site also has dedicated percentages and ratios generators.

▸Can I give the whole class the same sheet and mark it quickly?

Yes. Share the link and every copy has identical problems; tick the answer key box and a numbered key prints on its own final page. Press Shuffle first if you want a different version for a second group or a re-test.
