Grade 7 · 3 pages · A4What each level generates
Grade 7 collecting like terms — the exact skill behind each difficulty setting, straight from the generator.
- Level 1One kind of term
- Level 2Two kinds of term
- Level 3Multiply out, then collect
Grade levels follow the progression common to most English-language curricula — not one specific national curriculum. Every level shows exactly what it generates, so you can check the fit with your own program. See the full scope & sequence →
More Grade 7 pre-algebra skills
Each one generates a different kind of question, with its own three levels and answer key.
- Two-Step EquationsSolve ax + b = c by undoing the two operations in the right order.
- Evaluating ExpressionsPut a number in place of the letter, then work the expression out.
- One-Step Equations (+ and −)Solve x + b = c and x − b = c by doing the same thing to both sides.
- One-Step Equations (× and ÷)Solve ax = c and x ÷ a = c by undoing the multiplication or division.
- Equations with BracketsClear the bracket with the distributive law, then solve.
- InequalitiesSolve an inequality and write the range of values that works.
- Writing ExpressionsTurn a sentence into algebra, using n for the unknown number.
- Substituting into FormulasPut the given quantities into a formula and work out the result.
Frequently asked questions
▸What pre-algebra is taught in Grade 7?
The headline skill is solving two-step equations such as px + q = r. Its three levels here run multiply-then-add, multiply-then-subtract, then divide-then-add-or-subtract, and equations like a(x + b) = c have a sheet of their own, Equations with Brackets.
▸How do you solve a two-step equation?
Undo the operations in reverse. For 4x + 3 = 23, first subtract 3 from both sides to get 4x = 20, then divide both sides by 4 to get x = 5. Always deal with the added or subtracted term before the coefficient.
▸How do you solve an equation like 3(x + 2) = 21?
Clear the bracket first. Either divide both sides by 3 to get x + 2 = 7 and then subtract 2 for x = 5, or multiply out to 3x + 6 = 21 and solve the two-step equation. Both give the same answer — pick one method and stick with it.
▸Can I get different problems with the same settings?
Yes — press Shuffle. Same grade, skill, level and count, brand-new numbers, and each shuffle gets its own shareable link so you can save a particular set or hand it to a class.
▸Is there space to show working?
Yes. Sheets leave room under each problem so students can write both steps, and choosing a larger font or the easy-read font gives even more space for students who need it.
