Frequently asked questions
▸What percentage topics are covered in Grade 8?
Grade 8 applies percentages to real money situations: discounts and sale prices, tax, two-step totals where a discount is followed by tax, and reverse percent — recovering an original price from a sale price. Discount and Tax covers the first three, and Reverse Percents covers the last.
▸How do you calculate a discount or sale price?
Subtract the discount percent from 100 to get the percentage you pay, then multiply. For 25% off a $60 item you pay 75%: 0.75 × 60 = $45. The price you pay level of the Discount and Tax sheet drills exactly that.
▸How do you find the original price from a sale price?
Work out the percent actually paid — 100 minus the discount — then divide the sale price by it as a decimal. After 20% off you paid 80%, so a $40 sale price means 40 ÷ 0.8 = $50. That reverse-percent skill is the Reverse Percents sheet.
▸How do you find the total for several discounted items?
Discount the price of one item first, then multiply by how many are bought. A $20 item at 10% off is 0.9 × 20 = $18 each, so three cost 3 × 18 = $54. The Discount and Tax sheet practises the discount step; press Shuffle for a new set.
▸Can I reuse the same worksheet for a whole class?
Yes. The shareable link reproduces the identical problems and answer key for everyone who opens it, so you can set the same real-world percentage sheet across a class or re-test the same student fairly weeks later.
