What each level generates

Kindergarten before, after and between — the exact skill behind each difficulty setting, straight from the generator.

  1. Level 1The number after
  2. Level 2The number before
  3. Level 3The number in between

Grade levels follow the progression common to most English-language curricula — not one specific national curriculum. Every level shows exactly what it generates, so you can check the fit with your own program. See the full scope & sequence →

Each one generates a different kind of question, with its own three levels and answer key.

Frequently asked questions

▸What counting should a 5-year-old be able to do?

By the end of kindergarten, most curricula expect counting a group of up to 20 objects accurately, saying the count sequence to 100, and writing numerals to 20. Counting real objects to 10 without skipping or repeating is the mid-year benchmark to aim for first.

▸How many problems should a kindergarten counting worksheet have?

6–8 is plenty. Five-year-olds tire quickly, and one careful, touched-and-counted row is worth more than three rushed ones. Use the stepper to keep sheets short and do them more often instead.

▸What is one-to-one correspondence and how do these sheets practise it?

It means pairing exactly one number word with each object counted. Every problem on the Counting Objects and Counting On sheets shows a row of drawn shapes, so your child can touch and count each one, then write the total in the box — the standard way early-years classrooms build the skill.

▸Is there an answer key for counting worksheets?

Yes. Tick the answer key box and the correct totals print on their own separate page, numbered to match the problems, so you can check the sheet without hovering while your child works.

▸Do I need an account, and can I print on A4?

No account and no sign-up — everything runs free in your browser. Choose A4 or US Letter in the controls and both the preview and the downloaded PDF match the paper you pick.
