Grade 3 Division Worksheets β€” Free Printable PDF

Grade 3 is where division enters the picture β€” first as sharing objects into equal groups, then as the partner operation to multiplication. This generator produces fact-based division sheets that stay within the tables your child is learning, so 24 Γ· 6 lands right when 6 Γ— 4 is fresh. Adjust the settings below and the worksheet updates instantly; the link reproduces the exact same problems whenever you need them again.

What each level generates

Grade 3 division facts β€” the exact skill behind each difficulty setting, straight from the generator.

  1. Level 1Divide by 2, 5 and 10
  2. Level 2Divide by 3, 4 and 6
  3. Level 3Divide by 7, 8 and 9

Grade levels follow the progression common to most English-language curricula β€” not one specific national curriculum. Every level shows exactly what it generates, so you can check the fit with your own program. See the full scope & sequence β†’

What Grade 3 division should cover

Most curricula introduce division in Grade 3 as two ideas at once: sharing (12 cookies among 3 friends) and grouping (how many 3s make 12), tied directly to multiplication facts. Fluency with division facts within the 10 Γ— 10 tables is the typical year-end expectation β€” no remainders yet.

Start on the Division Facts sheet at Divide by 2, 5 and 10, which keeps divisors small and quotients familiar. Move the level control on to Divide by 3, 4 and 6 only once your child can answer a division question by saying the matching multiplication out loud β€” "28 Γ· 7 is 4 because 7 Γ— 4 is 28." That inverse link is the whole point of Grade 3 division.

Using these sheets at home and in class

Pair each division sheet with the matching multiplication table for the week: ten minutes of Γ—6 facts one day, Γ·6 facts the next. The Shuffle button generates a fresh set at the same settings, so the routine never recycles problems. Type a name into the child-name field and it prints on the sheet β€” handy for classroom sets β€” and the name never leaves your device.

Watch for two tell-tale errors: reversing the numbers (writing 4 Γ· 24) and guessing quotients one off (24 Γ· 6 = 5). Both usually mean the underlying multiplication fact is shaky β€” drop back to Divide by 2, 5 and 10 for that table rather than repeating the mixed sheet.

Frequently asked questions

β–ΈWhen do kids start learning division?

Grade 3 in most curricula, typically age 8–9. It begins as sharing into equal groups and grouping, then connects to multiplication facts. Formal remainders and long division come in later grades.

β–ΈHow many division problems should a Grade 3 worksheet have?

12–16 works well. Division facts take a little longer than multiplication at first, so use the question-count stepper to keep sheets short and frequent rather than long and occasional.

β–ΈShould Grade 3 division problems have remainders?

Not at first. Every level of the Division Facts sheet divides evenly, matching the standard Grade 3 focus. The Division with Remainders sheet is a separate sheet, and it exists for the transition into Grade 4 work.

β–ΈHow do I get the answer key?

Tick the Answer key box before downloading. The key prints on its own final page with numbered answers, so you can hold it back while your child works.

β–ΈDo I need to sign up to make worksheets?

No. There is no account and nothing is uploaded β€” the worksheet is generated in your browser, and the web address itself stores your settings so the same link always rebuilds the identical sheet.
