Frequently asked questions

▸What word problems should a Grade 5 student master?

Two-step problems with multi-digit numbers, especially multiplication and division: two-digit-by-two-digit products, dividing by a single digit, and two-step divide-then-add stories. The Multi-step setting here generates that style.

▸How many multi-step problems make a good session?

6–10. Each one takes several minutes when working is shown properly, so a short accurate set teaches more than a long rushed one. Set the count with the stepper.

▸How should students show working on two-step problems?

By writing the in-between result before the final answer: work out the first step (the total in the groups, or each share), note it, then add or take away. Keeping both numbers on the page makes the two-step structure visible and catches students who solved only the first step.

▸Can I run the same timed test across a class and again later?

Yes — the link reproduces the identical problems and answer key every time it is opened, so class-wide tests and later re-tests compare like for like.

▸Does the sheet print the student's name?

Type a name in the name field and it prints at the top of the worksheet. The name is only used to render the page and never leaves your device.
